History

Early in the 1920's, Calumet was enjoying continuous economic growth. The wealth generated from the booming copper mines was able to support an expanding business community. One of those businesses was the Keckonen Hardware Co. After building a new 8,000 square foot store, the Keckonens prospered for 30 years until the untimely death of the store's owner.
In May 1950, Peter Baudino, and son George, purchased the business. Over the years they remodeled, expanded, and continued to supply Keweenaw area residents with their hardware needs.
Today, granddaughter Pat and her husband, Rodney carry on Pete's dream of owning and managing a hometown hardware store.
